TESTING

Testing and Diagnostic Analysis

Testing during construction or installation and all scheduled maintenance is another key to ensuring the long and profitable life of an asset. Precise testing helps to ensure proper analysis which gives the equipment owner the confidence to place equipment back in service, or when needed, approve additional maintenance and/or repairs to ensure the equipment’s continued long life.

Acceptance and Maintenance Testing

Acceptance testing is vital to ensure the manufacturer warranty on your new asset is valid whether the investment is a small motor control center or multimillion dollar main power transformer. Regularly scheduled maintenance detects and tracks equipment degradation so that an action plan is in place before the issue becomes a serious problem. Expertise of ETEC’s field engineers includes, but is not limited to:

• Breakers
• MCC Equipment
• Transformers
• Instrumentation
• Instrument transformers and other sensing devices
• Protective relays
• Communication assisted protective relays schemes
• Preparing protection logic flow charts. (Most important with the
installation of IEC-61850 communication-based protection)

NERC Compliance Documentation

NERC rules are in place to help ensure the continued health of the countries’ HV and EHV power grid as the power grid grows tighter with each passing year. There is less reserve power and decreased tolerance for errors and equipment failure. NERC compliance is proved through documentation; meaning if it isn't properly documented the item was never tested. NERC compliance documentation requires all documents to be complete and consistent across a company’s electric power system. All NERC devices tested by ETEC are tested to the PRC-005-2 standard. ETEC can complete and return customer formatted documents, or ETEC can provide standard formatted documents.
